I think you missed his point, Frederick. He wants to know how to
change the From: field when using BSD mail from the prompt.

Without the MTA-rewriting described in a previous email, Matthew, I
don't think it's possible to get mail to send out mail with a FQDN
in the return address. (Anyone want to correct me on that?)
