I set up my 660AV to be a router at home for my cable modem connection.
I have a feeling I have done something wrong or I have some sort of
hardware problem. When I transfer a large file by ftp directly to the
router over the on-board port through the cable modem I get a 9 MB file
in about 31 seconds (as reported by the ftp program, I didn't actually
time it). When I ftp the same file to another machine on my internal
network so that it goes through the PDS/NUBUS/Asante 10BaseT -> on-board
port -> cable modem (using nat) it takes 90 seconds (as reported by the
ftp program in MacOS X on my imac) for the same file. Oddly, ping times
do not seem to be significantly higher when pinging along the same path.

Another odd behavior is that I cannot ping my internal machines from the
660AV, but I can ping the 660AV machine from the internal machines.

I have the on-board (mc0) port set up as a dhcpclient and the
PDS/NUBUS/Asante port (ae0) set up as 192.168.31.1 (internal machines
192.168.31.2,192.168.31.3,192.168.31.4) netmask 255.255.255.0.  I'm
using the 1.4.2 distribution.

The good news is that the setup works as a router, but that seems like
too big a hit on bandwidth.

Thanks for any help anyone has to offer!
