For "startx", create a file ~/.xinitrc that contains

  exec fvm2

as the last line. You can have other commands in there, too. Typically
you'll set environment variables for programs that are invoked by the
window manager (like for instance "export NNTPSERVER=news.poptel.org.uk"
for your newsreader), but always the last thing is to invoke the window
manager.

For "xdm", the file to to edit is ~/.xsession.
