I had a similar problem.
About a month ago, I used sysinstall to install 1.5 on my Centris 610
(full 040). The Boot kernel wouldn't boot with my Mouse Systems A3
mouse. I unplugged the A3 mouse and plugged in an Apple branded mouse and
it booted fine.

The Apple mouse I'm using is the rounded one (ADB Mouse II?), not the
older wedge shaped mouse.

(now if I can just get that scsi fix so the machine is useful again)
