Did you download and install pkgsrc.tar.gz and install samba by cd'ing
to the /usr/pkgsrc/net/samba directory and then typing
# make
# make install

?

I've installed it using that method.
As for swat, You have to add entries in the /etc/inetd.conf file
and the /etc/services file.
