Hello,

I run several m68k machines (NetBSD 1.4.2 on Amiga 4000, 66 mhz 68060 and
Quadra 800, 40 mhz 68040; NetBSD 1.5-BETA_2 on Amiga 3000, 25 mhz 68030
and Quadra 800, 40 mhz 68040).

Both Quadras are practically identical; each has 72 megs of ram and a 4
gig Seagate SCSI drive.

The Quadra 1.5 system is unusually slow during any disk activity (such as
when updating the locate database); I decided to try out 1.5 on the A3000 to see
if this was an issue with NetBSD-m68k or mac68k specifically.

Since the A3000 does disk activity with what appears to be an ordinary
system load, I can only assume that there is something not right in the
SCSI configuration in 1.5.

Does anyone know what's different? It seems like 1.5 is busy waiting on
the SCSI transfers or something like that.

Thanks,
John Klos

Scratch the disks, dump the core, Shut it down, pull the plug
Roll the tapes across the floor, Give the core an extra tug
And the system is going to crash. And the system is going to crash.
Teletypes smashed to bits. Mem'ry cards, one and all,
Give the scopes some nasty hits Toss out halfway down the hall
And the system is going to crash. And the system is going to crash.
And we've also found Just flip one switch
When you turn the power down, And the lights will cease to twitch
You turn the disk readers into trash. And the tape drives will crumble
                                                in a flash.
Oh, it's so much fun, When the CPU
Now the CPU won't run Can print nothing out but "foo,"
And the system is going to crash. The system is going to crash.
