Greetings and salutations
Yeah, it's me again. I have two, hopefully straightforward questions. This
list has already been of immense benefit, but I'll probably keep asking
questions til my luck runs out......or your patience.
Question one. I want to be able to dial up a PPP connection from my desktop
to my ISP. I am not on a network, (but do have an ethernet card sitting
there, whistling into the wind, as it were.). Most of the info I find on
this topic is a couple of years old. It would be extremely useful to be
able to download stuff off the net. How are most folks connecting for dial
up? Any personal tips, ideas, gossip or even bawdy limericks would be
appreciated. I do have a new ISP and I note that while they do not
officially "support" unix, they were thoughtful enough to include linux
setup instructions (including a linux script...) on a tech page. Cool. Way
cool.
Question two. I have a working Powerbook 170 with 8 megs of RAM and a third
party 200 meg (!!!!) internal HD. It was a gift from a colleague who said,
"heck I don't use it anymore..." I wonder what would be the best way to try
to load NetBSD onto the HD. My desktop machines each have CD, so it was as
easy as falling off the proverbial log. But not so the 170. If you have any
thoughts on this let me know.
Thanks to the list for all the help and support I have already recieved.
It's appreciated.
