For what it's worth, there is a MacOS pdisk version floating around (I
believe it uses the sioux libraries to provide console support). It used to
be on the MkLinux ftp site in a directory called something like "macutils".
Note that pdisk can not format... it can only partition... I hardly think
this will be a problem for your purposes, though... even if I create a
MacOS partition with it, the MacOS invariably asks me if I would like to
format it upon reboot...

It looks like the original author, Eryk Vershen, has started to work on it
off and on again (that's his page for it above)... he might be a good
source of information about it :)
