The 68LC040 in my Powerbook 540c is permanently soldered to the CPU
daughtercard (not socketed), so I'm not sure the best way to replace it
(or if it's even possible).  Assuming the PB520c is the same you may be
out of luck.

I would love to find a way to run BSD on the 540c but so far it has not
been practical.  Would offering to fund FPU emulation development work
help?
