I'm sorry guys (and girls :) ) The lookup thing is what I needed to do,
but after looking at the man pages for resolv.conf. I realized "lookup"
had been replaced by the file, nsswitch.conf. So I fixed the problem by
changing the line

hosts:        dns files

to

hosts:        files dns

in the nsswitch.conf file. So, I'm sorry, I should look closer before
bothering yall. Anyway, I did fix that ( well, *I* sorta did), but I'm
still curious as to what to put for a fully qualified domain name.
