The "rnd" device was found to cause random panics on NetBSD-1.4 (and
1.4.1? I forget). It's OK now for 1.4.2--I've been using it, and ssh,
on mac68k since it was fixed on the 1-4 branch over a year ago--but
it's still not enabled by default. Unfortunately, you'll need that for
plain old ssh as well. Your best bet may be to upgrade to 1.4.2, and
also pull down syssrc and build a custom kernel.
