Ah, I knew I forgot one of them (the mc? device).  I've never owned an AV.

Well, let's see...do you need the "-seed"?  Typically I didn't think
that was necessary unless you were doing AppleTalk routing or
somesuch.

I guess the next question is, assuming you have other AppleTalk
services running on your network (like a LaserWriter, or another
AppleShare server, or just a Mac with file sharing enabled), if you do
a nbplkup (with no arguments, typically), can you see any of the other
AppleTalk nodes on your network?

If not, then there's still something wrong with the atalkd
configuration, I think.
