Others have mentioned the different algorithms for calculating the delay
loop. Let me just add that the move from 1.3.3 -> 1.4 made a big difference
wrt. behaviour under load. 1.4 introduced an improved virtual memory
subsystem which OpenBSD afaik plans to port but may not have on all ports
yet.
