I have these weird messsage in my logs from 1.4 that I just installed

I have commented out all the rpc stuff in inetd.conf. I do not want or
need them. Do I need to kill portmap and keep it from starting at system
startup? Or do I need it for something other than rpc? I do use identd if
that matters...
