"su" is the substitute user idedentity command. You must be logging in as root.
If you log in as a normal user, it will not give you those messages.  I think
the default message when you log in as root is " don't login as root, use the su
command"  That means you should log in as a normal user and then if you have to
do things that require root priviliges, then "su" to the root user.

like this:#  su root
and then it will ask you for root's password.  They recommend not being logged
in as root all the time because it can be dangerous to your system if you make
some mistakes.

 sh is the standard command interpreter for the system.

Check the man pages " man sh"  "man su"
