Make sure routing is turned on ie. (net.inet.ip.forwarding=1)

# cat /etc/netstart.local

if [ -f /etc/ipnat.conf ]; then
        sysctl -w net.inet.ip.forwarding=1;
        echo 'starting IP network address translation (ipnat)...';
        /usr/sbin/ipnat -f /etc/ipnat.conf
fi

# end  /etc/netstart.local

And if you have ppp going with vj compression add
sysctl -w net.inet.tcp.rfc1323=0
to /etc/netstart.local
