Subject: ftpd terminates

When trying to ftp to the server, ftpd terminates.
ftpd.core says it terminates with signal 11, Segmentation fault. 
Cannot access memory at adress 0x40a0.

My ftp client  returns 421 Service not avilable, remote server closed 
connection.

Running NetBSD 1.3.2 on a Quadra 700.
Any suggestions?
