don't bother doing the "route add default ..." manually - let pppd take
care of you!  Just put "defaultroute" on a line by itself in your pppd
options file!  That way, pppd will create the default route when the
link comes up, _and_ pppd will know enough to remove the default route
when the link goes down.

As for where the original route might be coming from, check first to see
if you have a /etc/mygate file - if so, delete it.
