I get exactly the same error on an i386 running NetBSD 1.3. And it too is
connected to my ISP via cable modem. It's been working nonstop for 2 months
now without a hitch.
That sysconf socket message certainly doesn't indicate that dhcpd isn't
working properly. Maybe the author was just a little overzealous with the
printf statements :-)
