ksh comes standard with NetBSD, and it supports this sort of command-line
history - access via arrow keys. You control the sort of command line editing
you get by setting the EDITOR environment variable. I believe there are only
two supported modes - emacs and vi. With emacs mode, arrow keys work. With
vi mode, you use hjlk as you would in vi, after whacking the escape key to
get into command mode. You can use various vi editing and navigation commands
while in this mode, which is useful.
