Have you tried pinging your NetBSD machine from your MacOS machine? On
my machine, OpenTransport TCP/IP only starts up when some app's actually
using it, so if I ping it when no TCP/IP apps are running, I get the
"host is down" error. But if I start something like MacTCP watcher or
Fetch, everything'll work great.

Do you have an ethernet hub with cool blinkenlights? While you're
pinging, the activity light for the SE/30's port should blink. If it
doesn't, then something's wrong with the SE/30's configuration (although
it looked fine to me).
