I would use the installer to install it. I am suspicious of that 'cpin' and 'cpout' in the minishell.

have a UNIX on me.

OK, tried that. Got the same error. I had deleted everything under fonts.
I left /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts , but left fonts dir empty.

maybe I'll try using cpin in the installer mini shell to copy the file to
BSD and then expand it in there. Are there any particular flags to the
xtar command I should be aware of when I do this?

The fsck -fy turned up nothing.

thanks,
roger

That's why I'm posting this thread to the mailing list.
The Fonts.tgz bombed during the install. All other packages were OK.
I re-downloaded the file and tried again. Same result.
I deleted the fonts directory /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/*

I got a copy of the CD, and tried reinstalling from there. bombed again.

Tried cpin this morning. Seems to have worked ok. I'll try extracting it
tonight.
