Here is some additional information.
During the install, while installing the xfonts.tgz file, I got the
following error.

/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi/lubR18.pcf.gz
Error on SCSI cmd (), # 2
Error on SCSI read (), # 5
Error on SCSI complete (), # 10
/: bad dir ins 2 at offset 0: mangled entry
bad dir

I tried redownloading the fonts.tgz file from ftp.netbsd.org.
I reinstalled and got the same error.
