Unfortuantly I have run into the same problem.  I have tried compiling=20
asclock with as little as 2 colors and I get the same thing.  I've even=20
upgraded y xpm packages in case the older one didn't support some sort of=
=20
xpm animation which is basically what it's doing.  Still no luck.  I am=20
running in 16bpp as well and it does seem a little awkward, it won't eve=20
nrun with a black background and no wharf.  I dunno what the deal is.  I=20
will try contacting the developer to see if he has any further suggestions.
