Our X Servers don't currently support 16bpp mode. There really isn't any
reason why they can't, though. The phenomenon you're describing sounds
to me like they haven't adjusted their rowbytes value.

Somebody is working on getting the new XFree86-based servers to work
with the IOCTL calls that color video will add. Maybe they can fix
this too since I would think Quadras should be able to run Color X
in 16bpp at least reasonably.
