A mailing list shouldn't be an anarchy. That's one of the reasons mailing
lists exist, to control and organize the flow of messages. They don't exist
to make life easier for each and every last peron on the face of the earth.
As it currently stands, the open list policy only hurts the people who are
subscribed to it and have to receive off topic mail. Is this somehow better
than making people who want to ask questions have to read the list? Even in
the good old days of usenet it was considered good behavior to lurk for a
while before posting the same question for the tenth time that week.
