Actually, I think I'm using 1.9.4. It seems that 1.9.6 and up don't work.
This problem seems to come and go depending on the booter version.

No need anymore. Starting with the latest -current Allen submitted some
patches to ite.c that I made. The problem had to do with the fact that
16 or 32 bit mode blitter code. You wouldn't want to boot in these modes
anyway since the scroll speed is super slow. Maybe after I get the mode
switching code in...just a matter of time.
