im fairly certain the cable modem doesnt need special software...at least 
with highway1 and continetal cable vision, i dont have one of these, tho 
i plan to ;) as far as i know, in macos you just select ethernet in the 
tcp control panel and thats it...also with highway1 you cant ethernet 
multiple computers to it yet...(tho this may be possible via ip 
masquarading, tho this would violate the highway1 service agrement ;)
