port-mac68k: telnet trouble

I am having trouble telneting into my SE/30 running
NetBSD 1.2.  It is etherneted to my other computers
and I would say 90% of the time when I try to telnet
in it makes a connection that says remote host
closed connection without any chance to login in.
Any idea what could cause this?  It works very sporadically.
