This really ought to be right at the top of the FAQ :)

One of the simplest editors is pico - it should be available as
part of the pine package as
	ftp://ftp.macbsd.com/pub/NetBSD/contrib/unix/pine.tar.gz
	or on its own as
	ftp://ftp.macbsd.com/pub/NetBSD/contrib/unix/pico.tar.gz

For a more 'serious' editor you'll probably want emacs, jove or
jed, (pico is a very much cut down version of emacs), but pico
is a good place to start!
