That's an easy one.  I had the same problem when I gownload the binarys
with anarchy.  It seems to default to (ascii) text mode.  Solution:  I used
Fetch and explicitly demanded a binary dl all is well.  This only happened
on the NetBSD ftp site so far.  Could happen anywhere though.  Rule of
thumb be sure binaries are xfered as binaries.  Usually I just go ahead and
make sure of a binary DL all the time text, binary, unknown.  I can always
sort it out back "home".
