What kind of video card?  It's likely that the problem is that you have
video card whose interrupts are not being handled properly.

Actually, you don't need it to be in /dev, but you do need it to be in
'netstat -i' or 'ifconfig -a' which I'm sure it will be since it was
found OK at boot time.
