I am also a newbie, but as far as I know, Xmac68k (X server from
xserver12) does not run on SE/30, and probably neither on Color Classic.
(More precisely speaking, X seems somehow running on SE/30, however,
X-Window would never show up on its screen. I waited an hour!)

>From my and a couple of MacBSD users' experiences, the only way to
get the new X to run on SE/30 is to replace the Xmac68k with Xmacbsd
from Xmacbsd.960127. (You need to rename Xmacbsd to Xmac68k.)

If anyone has succeeded in running the new X on SE/30 with the original
xserver12, please help us SE/30 users out.
