hi,

i have recently set up my se/30 to run netbsd 1.2, which i hope to use as a
learning tool for unix. being fairly new and inexperienced on unix
administration, i have (as you would imgaine) lots and lots of questions in
my pursuit to get the system to work for me. this forum is my only hope
for salvation.

to start off, i am having troubles in getting kermit to work. there are
two main problems:

(1) when i do "set line /dev/tty00" in kermit, i have to type ^C to get
back the kermit prompt. (however, kermit did manage to set the line
correctly.) i tried "set carrier off," but to no avail.

(2) once connected, i cannot escape back to the local kermit prompt by
typing the escape character (^\). all the characters i typed passed
straight through to the remote terminal. this rendered file transfers
practically impossible.

has anybody encountered similar problems? how could i fix them? any help
would be greatly appreciated! !

thanks,

chi on
