Have you tried the drive with a kernel newer than say, NFS-22 or
GENERIC-50 (????), dated around the middle of May 1996? The problem
seems to have cropped up sometime in late may. I was running fine with
my Quantum Lightning 730.
If you haven't, DON'T. Wait till we figger it out.
Of course I'm now happily running with an IBM 540 meg drive:
6:42PM up 11 days, 3:10, 1 user, load averages: 0.06, 0.08, 0.08
Not a single error.
