Well, maybe not for floppy disks. :-)  Sigh.  I wasn't being totally brain
damaged though; it's quite conceivable that this would be highly useful on
other forms of writable removable media, e.g. Zip, Jaz, or Syquest
drives.  Wouldn't it be swell to be able to pop a Zip disk from your Mac
into, say, an Atari, Amiga, or HP machine, and it Just Worked?
