I'm having trouble installing MacBSD on a Mac IIci. I'm using the
exact same files that I installed successfully on my puny Mac II some
time ago (its now running fine). These files were, I believe, from
the MacBSD 1.1 distribution.

I successfully formatted and partitioned the disk, using the Apple
SCSI HD program. I set up 16M Mac, 16M Swap, and 48M Root and usr (I
have 8M of RAM on this machine).

But when I tried to run the installer (v. 1.8), I got uneven results.
The netbsd11.gz file went in just fine; the base11 got as far as the
binary for "sleep" and then had a problem with an unimplemented trap,
and I had to reboot. I tried again, and got to the installation of
fasthalt, and failed again. The third time worked fine, though. I
then rebooted the machine, started the installer again, and selected
"build devices", and then installed the etc11.gz, which caused it to
quit unexpectedly due to an error of type 25. I rebooted and
installed etc11.gz successfully.

But now when I boot, I get complaints from fsck, and then it says

vm_fault(10c000, 8bd1000, 1, 0) -> 1vm_fault(10c000, 8bd1000, 1, 0) ->vm_fault(10c0

thats the end of the screen, so I'm guessing this message may repeat.

This happens right after it starts the network daemons.

Any thoughts? One obvious thing I could try is a more recent
installer program, but this one did run fine on the Mac II.

On an unrelated topic, this machine also locks up right after
"enabling adb interrupts" when I have the appletalk network connected
(thru the printer port). This also happens with my Mac II. There's
an obvious solution: just unplug the cable. Does this might belong in
the list of things to try to get MacBSD to boot?
