Hello, all.
i have a Macintosh IIvx, 20MB RAM, with an external quantum hard drive
partitioned into a 32MB swap and a 383MB root&usr. i also have an apple
nubus ethernet card. ( i have tried to fix the problem with and without
this to no avail)
i have Mkfs'ed the partition, and installed all the *11
files in the "binary" directory on ftp.netbsd.org. i have installed
devices, too. the kernel is "netbsd11", i think, so i installed that too
(was in the "binary" directory.
I am having problems getting the machine to boot. i threw it into single
user, with no env dumps, and set anything that looked like it needed to be
set. i found a bug(?) that the booter crashed when the internal video
(what i use) wasn't set to 1-bit color. the screen turned white, and gave
me some sane-looking messages about RAM, VRAM, and bootstrapping. then,
the machine does nothing else after the "copyright the rengents of
university of california" notice. it does not appear to be doing anything
like accessing the hard drive or otherwise. i have toggled several of
those options on and off in the booter, and i've had no luck.
what went wrong? or what did i do wrong? i'd *really* appreciate any help
i can get. if any more info is needed, feel free to ask! i want to run
MacBSD!
thanks a LOT! :)
