Hmm. To see what chat's doing, you don't need kdebug. Run chat in verbose
mode (add "-v" to the command line options) and it should fill the syslog
w/ details. If not, try adding this line to /etc/syslog.conf:
*.info;*.debug                                  /var/log/info

(use tabs to go from one column to the other; under 1.1, I ran into a bug
that syslog'd choke if I used spaces between columns).

See what that does.
