It has a Daystar PowerCache '030 accelerator installed and I guess it has an MMU.

Yes, I had to install it on both machines to get into the booter. Is the enabling done 
in Mode32? I remember I have seen such an enabling in the memory control panel but when 
I tried to find it, it was not there.
I haven't had too much time to play around with MacBSD but from the responses I have 
gotten it seems though I am not doing much wrong. I will probably get it up when I have 
some more time to experiment.
