I'm not sure about mail, but I know that with pine, it must be .signature,
and in your home directory (the dir below your mail or Mail dir).

If that doesn't work, you could download pine.  It's available from puma's
ftp directory

ftp://ftp.macbsd.com/pub/NetBSD/contrib/

and is called pine.tar.gz or there may be a version number in the filename
somewhere.  I forget.
