Subject: Problems with ld???

I'm trying to compile tcl/tk. Tcl compiles with no errors, no warnings,
works beautifully except for a few from the (supposedly extremely rigorous)
test programs (which is not supposed to be a problem).

Tk gets through the compiling just fine, generates the object files, but on
linking gives the error:

ld: ltcl7.3: not found

I changed the Makefile to indicate that the library was defined as
ltcl7.5.1.0 (which the Makefile is supposed to fix). From ldconfig -r:
...
15:  ltcl7.5.1.0 -> /usr/local/lib/libtcl7.5.so.1.0
...
Yet I still get the not found error.

What am I missing?

Everything in the Makefile seems in order as it was generated by the
Configure script.

I'm sure it's something stupid.

TIA
