The problem is that BSD traceroute requires some functionality from the
low-level network interface that is not provided and not required by the
standard Apple software.  You need to convert not only the traceroute code
itself, but you need a custom driver for your network interface.  Perhaps
Open Transport addresses this, but I would be surprised.
