Tried. Works great! Let me give you some idea how well it works:

		Dhrystone VAX MIPS ratings
Dhrystone version			1.1		2.1
=======================================================================
Vanilla IIsi (20MHz)			3.246 (1.221)	2.858 (1.190)
Vanilla SE/30 (16MHz)			2.659 (1.000)	2.402 (1.000)
SE/30 w/Daystar cache disabled (40MHz)	2.912 (1.095)	2.658 (1.107)
SE/30 w/Daystar cache enabled (40MHz)	6.953 (2.615)	6.177 (2.572) *

Numbers in ()'s are relative performance to the vanilla SE/30.

* Note: I ran this in single-user mode in which kernel doesn't switch
context many times if at all. So, it probably ran without many cache
flushes.

Not only did dhrystone run faster, but also it actually felt faster
when doing other things. Great work, Kevin!

Now only if I had the source... (my kernel config has sd[0-2] at fixed
SCSI ID 0-2 which is why I only tried your kernel in single-user mode.
I can't boot in mult-user mode with this dayster kernel unless I edit
/etc/fstab, but it would make it cumbersome to switch back to my old
kernels... ;-)

Cheers,
