I have this same problem on a Mac II 8 megs of Ram and 40MB swap. My
machine will usually lock up if I try running anything while I am
compiling and usually (for large compiles) will not make it all the way
through. Espically if I am using X. ( I have an external vt100 terminal
that I use when I get frustrated.) I compile my own kernel and have one
with sources as current as saturday.

Any ideas?
