I have a IIVX with a very limited amount of disk space (100MB), so I do not
re-compile the system... But I have been able to keep up with NetBSD current by
installing the snapshots, using the installer. This can be done in one of two
ways, using the install menu command (which installs tar'ed but not compressed
files), or starting the mini shell and using its install commands (type ? for a
list of commands).

Or, if you want to go through the trouble... There are utilities for the make that
will tar or untar files, you could untar the snapshot and cpin all of the files to
the correct directories. :-(
