Hello Everyone,


I am trying to put NetBSD-4.0 RC4 onto a Thinkpad 570, but the sysinst insi=
sts that "I can not find any hard disks" on which to install the OS. Now, t=
he interesting thing is that this HDD came from a Thinkpad T40 (a much newe=
r machine) that I'd installed RC3 onto, and the 570 boots just fine off of =
it (I have to disable ACPI in the kernel to make it behave better, but it w=
orks). It's just when I boot off of the CD or the floppy install kernel tha=
t the existence of said hard disk is denied.

The Thinkpad 570 is the slim, driveless laptop with the big-honking ultraba=
se docking station which supplies the CD and floppy drives. I can boot NetB=
SD off of the HDD with the docking station attached, so I don't think that'=
s the issue, but in any case, this is quite puzzling, since I can't isolate=
 what exactly the problem is. So, I turn to you, my Peers and Betters!
