In case anyone wants to try it, I packaged the OpenBSD wscons pointing
device driver for modular Xorg; it's in wip/openbsd-input-ws.  It
works very well for me; mouse scrolling is visibly smoother.

I don't know if it would be of any help with this, but I figured I'd mention it.
