I have similar problems with my work T41p (that mostly has to run
windows).  Suspending (apm) and X just don't go along with each other
in any combination (e.g. while running I can switch to the console and
suspend, after resume when i switch back to X it freezes, etc, etc).
I'm using xfree from xsrc.
