I had a motherboard once with this adapter, and it caused me nothing
but headaches (they're very cheap, IIRC).  I ended up giving up and
using an fxp adapter instead.

However, I did manage to get it to work with the  i386 port (I was
using amd64 also) by disabling ioapic [interrupt routing].  You may
wish to try the fixups mentioned in pcibios(4).
